Sean Soucy

Sean has been at the helm of BBAC since July 2007. He started weight training while a student at Orono High School. As a U.S. Marine, he helped fellow marines with their training regimens, and he’s been training clients locally since 2005.

Amy Curry

Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer

After the conclusion of collegiate sports, I found my love for fitness and my ability to teach form & proper technique. Having an athletic trainers’ edge, I know orthopedic injuries and treat them, but believe injury should never keep anyone from living their lives, nor stop them from achieving health or fitness goals. I push individuals to succeed in their personal goals, hold them accountable, and give them the support they might need. On the other hand, I consistently assess form and technique, provide injury and therapeutic rehab programs, as well as train the individual to the proper intensity needed to avoid injury. I am experiencing “fitness” change in my life, and I want to help others find health and make it a lifestyle!

Dawn Arnold

Personal Trainer and BodyPump Instructor

Dawn is an NASM-certified personal trainer and the mother of two. “My journey through fitness has been an exciting one to say the least.  Even though I have always been active, I too have battled and overcome my own weight issues, injuries and 3 knee surgeries.”

Next big goal:  I already am doing what I love to do and couldn’t be more grateful. The next big goal is to continue to better educate myself so I can help others make fitness a fun lifestyle choice.

My fitness and training began long before I became a certified trainer. As a child I was over weight, struggled with self confidence and feelings of depression. Nothing seemed to help...until I found weight training. There I began to find a new me, feelings of confidence, and an emotional uplift everytime I stepped in the gym. When I became a mental health counselor I found that "typical" simply did not fit who I am and sitting in an office was..well...exhausting, boring, and unfulfilling. I wanted to provide more, better, and an approach that blended physical well being, confidence, and a sense of mental stability. To me fitness is not just about losing weight, gaining strength, or achieving a physical goal. It is about finding yourself, pulling out the grit inside, and presenting it to the world.

Having served in the Army and going overseas, I have experienced many of life's heavy traumas. With those traumas, came PTSD and heavy eating to mask my emotions to the point that I weighed 280 pounds and had mental strain with self doubt and self sabotage type behavior.

I decided to turn my life around and that's when I found Bangor Brewer Athletic Club. BBAC became a home and foundation that I could build myself back on. It was much more than just a gym. With that, I gained my personal training certification from ISSA because I wanted to help others get out of this same mentality and bad habits.

I decided to share my story to help others overcome their weaknesses and self doubts. If you are struggling and want to help build yourself up mentally and physically, I am here to push you and motivate you through it. I truly found myself through the world of fitness and believe that I can help others do and feel the same.

My health and fitness journey started in 2016 when I finally decided to stop the fad diets and “quick fixes” and take control of my all-around health. With this, I decided to enroll in IIN’s health coaching course and learn about a holistic way of health. I like to focus on how a person feels rather than how a person looks. I’m not about extreme dieting but more so a balance of happiness and health in ones life.

After receiving my health coaching certification, I wanted to take it one step further and tie health coaching in with personal training so therein lies me receiving my personal training certification.

I love watching people feel good about themselves and learn a new way of life without having to eliminate their favorite foods. I am here to motivate, encourage, support and hold you accountable in making this a lifestyle rather than a “diet or craze.”

My life 100% changed when I found a passion for health and fitness and I would love to keep that feeling going for others.
